Haircut

with EFY counselor
Sunday was crazy! As we were sitting in church I noticed a person in the row in front us that looked  very familiar.  During the meeting our branch president got released and our new branch president is DEVIN DURANT. He gave the talk in general conference about the ponderizing scripture and also played in the NBA.
Also, Sunday night we watched the "Character of Christ" talk by Elder Bednar. One thing he said that I liked was, "Christ turns outward when we would turn inward." Since it was pioneer day on Wednesday our district went up to the sixth floor and watched fireworks.

This week Elder Griffin and I taught our first lesson in Spanish. It was challenging to try and teach the Gospel in a different language other than English.

Our whole district got our haircut.  I told the barber as short as possible.  You may ask, Why did you do that?  My response is that I am trying to lose myself in the work.  I now won't have to waste time fixing my hair.   I also ran into my EFY counselor from last year.  He currently works at the health clinic.

Have a great week!

Hola

This week has flown by. We usually have Spanish class twice a day. We have two teachers Hermana Philmore who went to Nicaragua on her mission and Hermano Grajeda who went to Paraguay on his mission. This week I have learned the first vision in Spanish.

Another pic of our district
Our whole district did choir and it was super awesome because we got good seats for the devotional. This week we got to hear from William R. Walker he talked about 10 things to do to become a happy and successful missionary. If you want to know what those are please email me for the answers. One thing that is fun to do in the MTC is say hello to people when you walk by in the language they are learning.  I ran into an Elder from Korea but he didn't know Chase.  Sorry these emails are so short but my companion summed it up best when he said all you do in the MTC is study and eat.  So true!

Enjoy a few pictures below.

Missionary Training Center

Birmingham Airport

Even though it hasn't been a week I can email today because Saturdays are my district's preparation day.  On Wednesday I left the house at 4:30 in the morning to leave for my mission.  I arrived in Salt Lake City at 11:30am and Carley was waiting to take me to the MTC in Provo where I will spend the next six weeks before heading to Spain.

Fortunately, I have a great big sister and she took me to lunch at In and Out Burger and also Sodalicious.  Sodalicious is Carley's favorite and she bought me two of her favorite soda combinations and said I could have the one I like the best.  I ended up drinking both of them!  We were also joined by Austin, Ali, and Justin.  After this we were headed to drop me off, but we made one more stop at JDawgs (a favorite hot dog place in Provo).  It turns out when we go inside Nic Padilla and Ethan Knarr happened to be there.  They are both friends from when I lived in Lancaster, PA.  Small world!

We arrived late but there were still people outside to greet us.  This was lucky for us because since there was no longer a line to drop people off I was able to take my time to say goodbye and we took a few pictures as well.

My MTC (Missionary Training Center) companion is Elder Griffin. He is from Brigham City, Utah and will be attending Utah State after his mission. My district has ten Elders and two Sisters. Only four of us are going to Spain while the rest are going to Ecuador.  I am enjoying learning Spanish.  We have two teachers, a guy and a girl.  They are really good and they teach differently and it is a good switch up.  On Thursday our district memorized Moroni 10:5 in Spanish. The MTC is awesome and we are always staying busy.
