Pesado

Found a gelato shop

Two of our amigos that we are teaching got hurt this week. Carlos did something to his shoulder and is currently out of town and Christian broke his foot. So we weren't able to meet with them. We were however, invited to two peoples birthdays in our ward this week. Birthdays here you just eat, sing and dance (no dancing for the missionaries) and then eat some more.

We asked one of our English students, Jheisson if he was interested in learning more about the church and he said yes. So we taught him about the plan of salvation, and will be teaching him again this week.

This weekend we had stake conference Saturday night it was at our building. My companion and I got called up to practice a ward council.  At the time I did not realize it was being broadcast to all the other church buildings in the stake.  Another missionary in the zone sent me a note and said I looked good on camera.  Fortunately, I didn't have to say anything.  Then on Sunday our ward took a bus to Bilbao for stake conference there.

Funny story this week: A member Ronald kept saying "Neuberger" over and over again (to remember my last name).  I thought his last name was Pesado because that is what the previous elders saved it on my phone as. So I kept saying "Pesado" to him. Turns out that's not his last name and it actually means "annoying", oops.  You got to love learning a new language.

One scripture I enjoyed reading this week was 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." This made me think do we do things only because it's the right thing to do or because we actually want to.   Be a cheerful giver this week!

Tenga una buena semana!

Pamplona and Burgos

Wow! This week was wild.

Monday and Tuesday we were in a trio with Elder Lowry one of the Pamplona Elders because the other one, Elder Whitehead had to go to Barcelona to get his residency. Tuesday morning our appointment got canceled in Vitoria because our amigo was out of town. So we went to Pamplona because they had an appointment with an amigo who they had already canceled with twice. We were able to review the Restoration with him and set a date for him to be baptized.

On Wednesday we had exchanges with the Burgos elders so I went straight from Pamplona to Burgos. While I was there my companion got an email saying he needed to go to Barcelona to get his residency so I stayed there for two more days. While I was there we were able to teach a lesson in English to a man from Jamaica. It was way awesome because I could understand everything he was saying :) . I eventually made it back "home" to Vitoria on Saturday.

Although it was a crazy week it was fun being in different cities and working with different missionaries.  This week should be more normal.  We will also start teaching English class this week to the ward here (local congregation).  I hope every one has a great week!

Minute to win it

Fufu

This week our preparation day got switched to Thursday because we have zone conference in Bilbao on Friday and part of our pday consisted of traveling to Bilbao.

This week we were able to teach the Restoration to an amigo who has already been to church twice and also to a student in our English class. Saturday we played soccer and there were three nonmembers there. Also we were able to commit a part member family to read the Book of Mormon each night.

Also, earlier this week a lady who lives here in the ward invited us for dinner.  She is originally from Africa and she made us an African dish called fufu.  The city of Vitoria feels like a melting pot of cultures because there are people from all over the world who live here, especially from South America.

For noche de barrio (ward night) everyone played minute to win it games and the winning team got to pie the missionaries face. (Whip cream taste way better in the US)

It is starting to get a little cold here the highs are usually in the high sixties. One thing I love about the city of Vitoria is it is a little spread out and there are lots of really nice parks.

Mosiah 16:9, He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.

Have a great week!
