Car, Paella, Owl

Hola a todos. These past two weeks here have flown by. In our area we now have a car because they have been closing areas in our mission due to the fact missionaries are finishing their missions and have gone home, and we aren't receiving any new missionaries unless they are from Spain because the country is not currently allowing Americans to come here. I am a little nervous about driving since I haven't driven a car in over a year, so I have let my companion do most of the driving. He is also really good at parallel parking.

We have been finding a lot of people to teach through English classes here. This week as we were teaching our friend Mercedes her husband decided to join us for the lesson.  Which made us happy. We are fortunate here in Alicante and have not had to be fully quarantined again like some parts of our mission due to a recent spike in Corona cases here in Spain. Here we can teach our amigos in the capilla or in a park. Our amigos are from all different countries, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina
Also we can now eat at peoples homes if they have a balcony or outdoor space.  We were grateful this week to be able to eat at the homes of three different families and one of those being a family that we are teaching.  This week we visited a family who lives on a small farm and they have a pet owl which I got to pet and they made us a traditional Spanish dish of Paella.  It tasted so good.  If you can have the missionaries over to eat where you live please do so, it will make their day. We went on a hike today for pday. I will attach some pictures from it.

Tenga una buena semana!

Church, Transfers, Alicante

We started this week with exchanges. After being in San Sebastián for preparation day Elder Wolfe and I came back to Pamplona. It was great being able to meet another missionary and show him around Pamplona. Because of Corona Virus we are still not allowed to contact people unless they contact us. In our Intercambio we had two guys from Ghana contact us and we were able to get their number. Also we received a reference from Elderes in Alemania. So we taught a new amigo named Osas.
beautiful San Sebastian
Sunday we were able to have church in the capilla for the first time since March. Only a small number of people could attend because of the virus, however they broadcasted it to the rest of the ward. Our amigos Johnny and Geraldine both came! Also we received transfer calls this week and I am leaving. I am going down south to Alicante which is near the bottom of our mission and I will be companions with Elder Guymon who was my zone leader when I came into the mission.

One scripture that I really liked from Ven Sígueme last week was Alma 26:2  "And now, I ask, what great blessings has he bestowed upon us? Can ye tell?"  With the circumstances and commotion of the world now it is very easy to have negative feelings, but when we search out the blessings in our lives we can find joy.

Tenga una buena semana!

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July! On Tuesday we went to visit Aarom in the pueblo he lives in. We got on the bus that goes to Zuasti and it was just a bunch of teenagers going there for golf and tennis. I could smell the suntan lotion and for a minute I thought I was headed to tennis camp myself.  We were in Zuasti for a couple hours because the bus only comes every so often.

This week we also taught Johnny who is a new amigo from Peru. I honestly thought the lesson wasn't the best because he has some problems in his life and likes to talk a lot, so we couldn't really teach him that much. But the next day he called us and told us he could feel peace after talking with us. That made us happy and we were able to explain to him that it was the Holy Ghost that he was feeling.

We were also able to go to a second hand store and do some service this week. Elder Hunt and I got put in charge of organizing books. It felt good to finally be out of our piso and doing some service. Thursday we did a Facebook Live event. If you want to check it out you can find it on my Facebook Page. Today would be the start of San Fermines (running of the bulls) so there are a lot of people out wearing red and white.  We went to the city of San Sebastian today for pday.  It is so pretty.  My favorite city so far in Spain.

Tenga una buena semana!

Castle

These past few weeks haven't been too much different than the past ones. However, we are now allowed to teach people in the capilla. It has been a little more difficult to find people to teach because a lot are returning to work.

Last p-day we planned a bike ride to the town of Olite.  There is a huge castle there called the Royal Palace of Olite.  It is 25 miles away by bike.  It took us about 2 hours to get there.  It was a nice bike ride on the way there and the castle was fun to see.  However, on the way back we faced a terrible head wind and it took us almost 4 hours.  I was wondering why there were so many windmills on the hills on the way to Olite.  It all made sense on the way back.

Teaching Geraldine with Sarah and Moroni
This past week we were able to meet with our Brazilian friends Anne y Joel. At the end of the lesson we asked them to read the Book of Mormón.  Anne said that she couldn't read because it gives her a headache and then she said I wish there was a way I could listen to it. My companion and I were like THERE IS!!! Haha. We then showed her that she could listen to it on the Gospel Library app. We have really been trying to do more work with Facebook but haven't seen much success. We had zone conference and Elder De Feo spoke about four blessings of constraints, they are... We refocus, we find another way, we come to ourselves, and we are taught.

Tenga una buena semana!
