Gloria, Grapes, & Feliz Año Nuevo

A lot has happened since the last time I wrote an email, and it is all kind of a blur. Last week so much was going on with transfers that we didn't have pday. On Dec. 18 we took a group of missionaries to the airport at 3 in the morning including Elder Johns, so they could be home for Christmas even though transfers weren't really until the week after Christmas. Elder Gomez who is from Madrid also went home but on Christmas day. He didn't tell his family he was coming home a few days early and was going to surprise them. I would have liked to have seen that happy reunion. We were able to eat a lot of great food with our district for Christmas that Hermana Warnock prepared. Also on Christmas eve we were able to visit with President and Sister Galli in their house and we ate different traditional foods from Spain.

Happy New Year Barcelona
Last week was probably one of the craziest on my mission. I started buying travel for missionaries because we were having transfers and the card we use stopped working. Too much to explain here other than it created a lot of craziness, but we made it through and everyone got where they needed to go. We also had a missionary who was planning on leaving at 6am on Tuesday morning. On Monday we found an email in our spam mail saying that he had to get a PCR(covid) test. So he ended up going home a day later instead.

In the middle of all this we had the baptism of our amiga Gloria. She was so happy and ready to be baptized. She loves the Gospel and all the joy it brings to her life. She loves to study everything we teach and always gives us her notes from during the week. Her baptism was also the day she turned 88 years old.

We had one of the mission cars get broken into luckily nothing was stolen. Also my companion was sick this week but didn't have covid. We were also able to meet with a few new people this past week including a guy around our age named Patricio and an abuela que se llama Luz.

12 grapes

I hope everyone has a happy new year. In Spain they eat twelve grapes at midnight to start the new year. It is supposed to bring good luck. They even sell the grapes in packages of twelve. Or if you missed out on eating your twelve grapes you can follow this advice in the scriptures: "I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." 1 Nefi 3:7

¡Tenga una buena semana!
